The sun has finally made an appearance and in true Brit style I took advantage of the little bit of Vitamin D we had and threw on my Spring / Summer gear. I'll raise my hand and tell you honestly that within about 30 minutes of walking outside in my glorious new masculine footwear additions, that my toes were fifty shades of cold. The sun is SO deceiving y'all! But however cold my tootsies were, i'm sure that you'll agree with me when i say  that my new clarks sandals are absolutely beautiful, from the leather, to how comfy they are, i'm sure they'll see me through summer very well! I'm digging the whole masculine trend for spring which is weird as half of the time i'm super girly, with ribbons, whistles, bells and all.
I'm also seriously in love with Double Denim which is really a hit or miss in the fashion world, but i think the key to pulling it off is to wear different shades of denim so that it doesn't look too co-ord-y. I went vintage on vintage for this outfit with an old mens shirt i bought about four years ago from Judy's Affordable Vintage Fair in Spitalfields, and a new pair of high waisted cropped jeans from Rokit in Brick Lane. Now I know i've always championed American Apparels High Waisted Jeans, but my dear bargain loving friends, I've realised the error of my ways and I have to say that my vintage pair top my AA hands down, mostly because they were a third of the price and secondly because i prefer the fit, so if you're looking for a pair, i'd suggest you go vintage. I only paid £20 for these bad boys!

FRESH FACED FOR SPRING

spring skin care routines
beauty blogger skincare spring
best products for dry skin

Spring / Summer makeup is my favourite kind of makeup because when it comes to the warmer months for me, less is definitely more, and I've taken on the whole no-makeup approach for the past couple of months during my work week, as I tend to always pick sleep over faffing over my face in the morning, so more often than not, I'm pretty much bare faced, wearing a slicked back lazy bun on my head. Pinterest has really given me some good inspiration for the days when I do want to wear makeup but want to look as if I'm not, i.e 'no makeup-makeup', and one thing I've realised when it comes to the more fresh and dewy looks of spring is that a good skin care arsenal is most important. So today I'm sharing with you all the things I've bought lately to give me that beautiful dewy spring glow!

First up is Nars Creamy Radiant Concealer. Oh how can I count the ways in which I love thee Nars for this product? I initially bought the Sheer Glow foundation and the radiance concealer as a duo but my face didn't quite get along with the foundation so i ended up returning it and tentatively continuing with the concealer, which has been working perfectly for me. It's a buildable matte finish concealer that stays put all day and well, as the name says, it really does makes you look radiant! I'm wearing it in this picture here if you'd like to know what it looks like applied on the face. I'm wearing the shade 'Amande' and i'd definitely recommend it if you're looking for a good everyday 'cover up all the lack of sleep' concealer, it was worth every penny to be quite honest!

I've been nattering on about good skincare, and for me, one of the best moisturisers i've found that is both affordable and super easy to find is Nivea's Rich Moisturising Day Cream. It leaves my face plump and smooth without it feeling greasy or inadequately moisturised, and since i've begun using it, i haven't had any annoying dry patches which is always a plus. Another for your skin care holy grail list should be Trilogy's Rosehip Oil because this stuff is MAGIC! I've been using it consistently every single morning for the past three months, and it has helped tremendously in fading spots that i've naughtily picked at, and generally leaving my face feeling a lot less tight, it is a little on the pricier side for an oil, but i had heard such good reviews about it's magical powers, that i just had to have it, and i'm glad i listened to my impulses for once. Avene's Eau Thermale Water Spray might seem silly to a lot of people as it's essentially fancy water in a can, but i kid you not, it works wonders when i'm blending out my concealer. I simply mist my face lightly with the product and use my beauty blender to soften any edges, and i end up with makeup that could pass for my own skin! It's a lil' miracle worker to be quite honest.

As the weather gets warmer, i get a little bit more dehydrated easily, dehydration = Tyrone Biggums lips. I like my fries crispy, not so much my lips, so whenever it gets a bit warmer, i slather my lips with Rosebud Lip Salve. I've been using it since 2010 and it has yet to fail me. Another one for the warmer months, Summer in particular, is Clarins Eau Des Jardins perfume. It's fresh, fruity and leaves me feeling and smelling squeaky clean as if i'd bathed in a variety of citrus fruits.

Hope this post has helped somewhat! Also tell me what you're doing to get Fresh Faced For Spring!

My Special Place.

boohoo my special place

Soho has a special place in my heart. I know the West End like the back of my hand from many years of working on Oxford Street, and it's a place I always find myself, particularly when i'm on my own. I know the best hidden alleyways to find small coffee shops where I can grab a Macchiato and a slice of cake, I know which areas are tourist traps and which areas are a little quieter and easier to navigate. In between the sex shops and restaurants, there are some pretty cool places like Soho Grind, which has become super popular as of late which is not surprising as any establishment serving well made Mocha's and have neon signs about holding 'French Lessons' downstairs will always go down a treat.

One of my favourite places in Soho without a doubt has to be Sounds Of The Universe, which is a beautiful little record shop right in the centre. I think the facade of the building itself just makes me so happy, it's such a nice change from all the glass and steel we see in London (Architecture lovers unite!), and the decor of the shop inside is just so beautiful. I'd definitely recommend a visit if you're in the area, even if you're not into record collecting, it's a pretty damn cool place.

Nice Things...

Photography Calligraphy
Tulips
New Look Aquazzura Dupes
Macarons
My motto for life courtesy of Tom Haverford and Donna Meagle is 'TREAT CHO' SELF'. Regardless of if i'm having a great week, or a pretty awful one, I always, always make a little time for myself no matter how much work i need to tick off on my ever expanding to-do list. I find myself drawn to Borough Market every single time I'm near London Bridge, and sometimes i'll even take a little detour just to get my hands on the Macarons and Bratwurst they sell in the Market. Bratwurst does not make for a pretty picture, so instead you'll have to just imagine the delicious sauerkraut-iness and tangy mustardy-ness of it all, but my goodness, if you have yet to make a trip to Borough, please do, your mouth and stomach will thank you for it. Aside from food, I also bought myself a pair of New Look Aquazzura dupes which i LOVE! Firstly because they are super comfortable to walk in, and secondly, just look at them. I'm not particularly a huge shoe lover but i searched the entirety of both Oxford Street stores for them. I mentioned in a past post that I've been reading a lot lately, and this hasn't changed, which is both a blessing and a curse… Penguin released eighty of their little black classics lately, and as soon as I saw them, i hot-footed it to the Waterstones by my office to pick up ten, which i regret a little as now i want the entire set of eighty.. So far I've read 'The Meek One' by Dostoyevsky, and 'Caligula' by Suetonius, both of which i've thoroughly enjoyed and would definitely recommend, also, they're only 80p each?! And last, but not least, of course i had to get myself a bunch of Tulips.

Hope you've all had a smashing bank holiday weekend, and have enjoyed the mini Easter break! I know I have! It's been so nice to have a few days off just to chill out you know?

ALL IN THE JEANS.

Hi hi! I have not one, but three outfits posts for you this beautiful sunny morning! I mentioned previously that I've had a few exciting things up my sleeves, and this is one of them. Miss Selfridge have launched their #AllInTheJeans campaign and asked myself and a few other awesome bloggers to get creative and style a pair of their new jeans in a few different ways. Miss Selfridge were kind enough to invite me to their Oxford St Store to meet with a personal shopper and put together three different looks, and i've got to say that without Preeya and Jennifer's help it would have been a lot more boring, and the styling session helped immensely and two of the tops i'm wearing they actually suggested for me despite my cries of "no no no! it's too sexy!". Onto the jeans, I'm wearing the Sofia ultra soft mid-rise skinnies and I can attest to the comfiness of them. If I can do a squat in them and eat a stack of pancakes without having to unbutton them, then my friends.. I have found a winner!

So, what do you think? Three easy ways to wear one pair of super stylish, simple skinnies! I think my favourite look by far has to be the first one, firstly because i finally got to wear my £1 suede jacket, and secondly because of how good I felt! *cues Ginuwine's 'In Those Jeans'*. Give a girl a pair of jeans her butt looks good in and she can conquer the world!

As always, have a wonderful week and enjoy the long weekend! I'm planning to go to the Wallace Collection with my lil' sis and partake in a little retail therapy!
